Training & Development

Michael has considerable experience of undertaking training and development work in a range of contexts, including schools and universities. Training and development is often bespoke and tailored to your needs.

Typical areas of support include:

  • Curriculum coaching conversations with subject leaders

  • Leadership coaching conversations with leaders, including those responsible for governance

  • Subject curriculum development support

  • Improving the quality of teaching and learning; e.g. across the school, with groups of class teachers or individual class teachers

  • Developing the capacity and effectiveness of subject leaders

  • Developing robust quality assurance processes and systems

  • Leadership training to support self-evaluations

In addition to the above, Michael has also developed a curriculum leadership training programme, designed for primary / secondary subject leaders. This leadership training programme supports leaders to know that their curriculum has been implemented well. It explores:

  • How to check for pupil / student learning and understanding

  • Undertaking pupil / student voice activities

  • Undertaking lesson visits

  • Undertaking a work scrutiny

Please contact Michael to discuss your needs. Michael can then develop a bespoke package.

"Michael was a regular fixture at our school in the lead up to our Ofsted inspection. He delivered CPD to our whole teaching team around curriculum leadership and bespoke governor training to our board of governors. In both cases, the impact on both group’s knowledge and confidence going into the inspection process was huge. Michael also carried out a coaching conversation with our senior leadership team and provided comprehensive and actionable feedback. This was some of the best CPD I have ever had and meant that when the time came for our inspection we were fully prepared and confident. I would recommend Michael in the strongest terms." - Adam Kholbeck - Deputy Headteacher at Birkbeck Primary School.

"Hands down the most challenging, yet impactful development I’ve had in my 17 years in education." - Dan Williams - Programme Leader for the PGCE Post-14 Education and Training at University of Derby
